The very first "Helping People with Parkinson's" course in Ireland is starting 20th February in the Edmund Rice Heritage centre at 11am; this first course is completely FREE.

This 5 week course has been specifically designed to help improve quality of life for people with Parkinson's and is the combination of Parkinson’s tailored exercise and special guest speakers each week which include doctors, physiotherapist, nutritionist, psychotherapist and fitness instructor; all sharing their expert knowledge and giving practical take home tips on how to improve your quality of life.

The course is created by Irene Treacy who is a PD Warrior, Smovey Coach and is Parkinson's Regeneration Trained, Irene has realised after working with people with Parkinson's for the past two years, it's a combination of positive mental attitude, exercise and nutrition along with their medication can drastically improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson's.

"I've personally seen and worked with hundreds of people with Parkinson's that their quality of life has actually improved. This is not down to just one thing but I believe a combination of elements from exercise, diet, hope and what's so important is education. Many people don't realise the significance and importance of exercise and diet and when they are explained and understand the effect it has on their body and brain, they are more likely to stick to a plan and that's exactly what I've created.

"A plan of action which is a holistic approach as it incorporates the body, mind and beliefs. We have so much power inside us to create an improvement and this course is a step by step guide to improve your personal belief, increase your physical and mental strength and improve your quality of life."

The Board of the Airport thanked Mr O’Flynn for his hard work over the last four years and has wished him well for the future.

It remains the priority of the Board to secure the necessary funding to extend the runway in order to ensure that the Airport can offer air connectivity to the UK and Europe for the southeast.

Waterford Airport continues to maintain the Irish Coast Guard helicopter search and rescue service for the region and to provide direct access for business and corporate aircraft that underpin many key industries.

The Nagle Centre is pleased to partner with the Irish Computer Society (ICS) Foundation to introduce a hands-on and practical IT course, Digital Skills for Citizens. This free five-week course, commencing January 29th is funded by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.

The course is primarily aimed at those who have not engaged with the digital world and will give students the skills, information and knowledge to take their first online steps.

According to Emma Greene, Nagle Centre IT tutor, this course is ideal for those who have little or no IT experience. “The course is the perfect springboard for anyone who wants to learn basic, yet essential IT skills. In today’s increasingly digital world, it’s becoming more and more necessary to be able to communicate online. From paying bills, to setting up online bank accounts or sending emails for work purposes or just to keep in touch with family and friends, this is the first step to navigating the internet safely and with confidence.”

“Over the five weeks our students will learn about the internet, with emphasis on online safety and security, how to set up emails, search the web and use mobile apps. The course is designed with the absolute beginner in mind, so the step-by-step breakdowns are easy to follow and not daunting in the least.”

“Our partnership with the ICS Foundation, which advocates for and promotes digital inclusion, will encourage more and more people, particularly those with no previous experience to dip their toes into the digital world.”

If you want to take the first steps in 2018 to becoming the “new digital you” and find out more about the Nagle Centre’s free Digital Skills for Citizens morning and evening courses call the Nagle Centre, Millennium Building, Church Road, Lisduggan, Waterford on 051 357731 or visit www.naglecentre.com
