It is a very exciting time at the Tower Hotel & Leisure Centre as work commences on an exciting renovation project which will completely transform guest rooms and many of our public spaces bringing The Tower Hotel & Leisure Centre Waterford to a state of modern elegance and luxury.
The team at the Tower are very excited about the new facilities and are confident that it will make your future visits to us even more enjoyable! In the meantime we sincerely appreciate your understanding while we make these great enhancements to the Tower Hotel.

The new look of the Tower Hotel & Leisure Centre will include a new bar and bar extension towards the river Suir. You will be able to admire fantastic views of the river from the fully glazed bar exterior which will wrap around the front of the hotel. We will also incorporate a new restaurant and new rooms will be added above this extension. All our existing bedrooms will also undergo a complete
re -furbishment.

We will have a new state of the art kitchen to service the new restaurant and bar. It is envisaged that all of the above renovation works will take approximately six months to complete.

The Adelphi Bar will be closed temporarily to facilitate the construction of this newly designed bar and we look forward to welcoming all our regulars back to the Adelphi Bar in the near future. Food will continue to be served daily from 10.00 am including our tasty new bar menu during the re furbishment in the Ardmore Lounge area with full bar service.

Renovations will also take place in early 2020. A new conference wing and further accommodation will be then added which will further enhance The Tower Hotel & Leisure Centre in Waterford and its facilities.

According the new General Manager Seamus O Carroll ‘The transformation of the Tower Hotel to a superior 4 star hotel is a welcome development and one which will benefit, not only the hotel itself but Waterford city in general as we will now be in a position to attract conference business that in the past would not have been attracted to Waterford. During all renovations the hotel will continue to trade with full services’.

It has been a great start to the year for all at one of Waterford’s most popular hotels as the Fitzwilton Hotel were awarded the top prize at the annual Irish Accommodation Services Institute Awards for 2017 in Dublin.

Having achieved silver in this category in 2016, the Fitzwilton Hotel claimed the overall Supreme Award for 2017 recognizing the hotel as the best 4 star property in Ireland in exceptional standards across a range of services such as cleanliness, guest services, servicing of rooms, bathrooms and public areas.

Driving this successful achievement was Accommodation Manager Ms. Lorraine O’ Brien who proudly stated ‘we are over the moon to receive this very prestigious award. It is a wonderful achievement for the dedicated accommodation staff at the Fitzwilton Hotel and it is great to see their hard work and commitment recognised on a national level’.

Speaking highly of the accommodation team, General Manger, Geoff Dawson said ‘over the past 2 years we have invested in an extensive refurbishment programme at the hotel involving all rooms, bar and restaurant. However, it must be said this is only half the battle. Keeping these rooms and public areas to an exceptionally high 4 star standard is where the hard work, training and dedication comes in and I could not be more proud of Lorraine and her team for this truly exceptional achievement which is very well deserved’.

The IASI represents the professional interests of the Accommodation sector promoting Best Practice Standards of excellence and a platform for Accommodation Managers to network and meet. All Hotels are independently assessed and only those who achieve the standard as set out by the IASI receive the prestigious awards.

Clem Jacob Hire EHS AwardThe high quality of Waterford-based Clem Jacob Hire Centres equipment hire operation has been recognised, with the company having been announced as a Winner in the 2018 Executive Hire Show Passionate Hirer Awards, which took place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The company was nominated in the Outstanding Single Depot Hire Company category, from no fewer than 708 outlets throughout the UK and Ireland that members of the Show team visited in the lead-up to the annual exhibition for tool and equipment hire professionals, held on 7 and 8 February.

Following ‘mystery shopper’ visits and calls to their depots, Finalists were scrutinised under a broad range of criteria including: presentation and functionality of premises; staff enthusiasm and competence; efficiency in handling enquiries and orders; quality of products and delivery vehicles; and innovation in offering a wide range of equipment and exploring new technological opportunities.

The quality of the company’s printed promotional materials and website was also assessed, along with its use of social media and supporting local community initiatives.

Established in 2006, Clem Jacob Hire has become a major presence serving the area around its Waterford location and throughout the south east of Ireland. The Award Judges were impressed by the intense enthusiasm, friendliness and positive attitude of all the company’s team, and by their obvious pride in what they do. Also noteworthy is the breadth of its hire services which, besides tool and plant hire, includes powered access machinery and event hire.

The company’s well-presented depot is an eye-catching presence in Waterford, and the business plays a valued role within its local community, sponsoring sports clubs and frequently offering free hire of equipment to support worthy causes.

Waterford Hospice Buy A BrickWaterford Hospice has today launched a ‘Buy a Brick’ appeal to help raise funds needed to reach its €6M target.

The centrepiece of the Buy a Brick appeal is an innovative new website, giving donors the opportunity to buy a virtual ‘brick’ at a price of their choice, which they can personalise with their own message.

The appeal will raise vital funds for the €6 million pledge by Waterford Hospice towards the construction of the new South East Palliative Care Unit on the grounds of University Hospital Waterford. Although €4.5 million has already been secured, a further €1.5 million is needed to reach the target.

The new South East Palliative Care Unit will be accommodated in the first two floors of the new five story €25 million build. This will include a 20 bed in patient unit, day services and a new base for the Waterford Hospice Home Care Team.

Waterford Hospice is a registered charity, and has been providing a ‘Hospice Home Care’ service (free of charge) for 30 years, to the people of Waterford & South Kilkenny. In addition to the €6M pledge, annual running costs in excess of €700K are needed to maintain this service into the future.

Danette Connolly, Chairperson said: “We’re calling on as many people as possible to get behind us by supporting our Buy a Brick appeal. By doing so, you’re also paying for a little piece of the new Hospice, and your support will become a part of our history. Please visit our website at’’

Michael ‘Brick’ Walsh, Waterford hurler said: I’m delighted to lend my support to Waterford Hospice for their Buy a Brick Campaign. This charity has been fundraising for the past 30 years to provide a free hospice service; I’m only too happy to oblige in giving a little of my time to help. I’d ask everyone to come on board for the final push to reach that €6M target.’’
