Lismore Food Company launches in Japan and China

The Lismore Food Company are delighted to announce the launch of their fine biscuits and confections in Japan and China.

The launch sees the company extend its reach to two of the worlds biggest and fastest growing markets.

Japan’s luxury department store group, Takashimaya, have listed Lismore’s award winning Dark Chocolate Apple Crisp Thins and the companies fine sweet and savoury biscuits are available on China’s enormous 'Super Community Mall' WeChat online platform where consumers purchase goods online and have them delivered within the hour!

Ken Madden says ‘It’s a huge opportunity for our company to have a presence in these two great markets. As a young company we aim to build and develop our premium brand in the international arena. The placement of our products in this way in both Japan and China enhances our premium standing while offering ease of access to consumers there'.

‘It’s a very exciting step for our company’ says Beth-Ann Smith. ‘We already have many Asian customers who love the pure and delicious taste of our fine biscuits and confections and adore the beautiful packaging. We know there is enormous potential in Japan and China and we believe our brand will be very successful there.’

Owen Madden adds, ‘While we continue to develop our important export business in the UK we are very aware of the potential impacts from Brexit. We constantly monitor opportunities in Europe and other markets beyond with the assistance of Bord Bia and our Local Enterprise Office as we grow our company.’

Takashimaya is Japan’s leading premium luxury department store with locations in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and other major cities across the country.

China’s 'Super Community Mall' e-commerce platform is showing extraordinary growth and allows consumers to browse & purchase products online, discuss with friends via WeChat, and have their purchases delivered from local micro warehousing within the hour.

The Lismore Food Company comprises three artisans who share a story of several hundred years of baking and food retailing. Beth-Ann Smith’s family history in food stretches back to Smith’s Stores, a fine food delicatessen and bakery on Cork’s Patrick Street. Having trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School she has just completed ten years as head chef at Lismore Castle. Brothers Owen and Ken Madden’s family opened a bakery and public house on Lismore’s Main Street in the early 1800’s. Now called ‘The Summerhouse’ and home to The Lismore Food Company, they continue this rich culinary tradition in the same historic location.

The Lismore Food Company’s Fine Biscuits are available throughout Ireland, the UK and selected stores in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

What Our Members Say

“Tom Murphy Car Sales Ltd has been a member of Waterford Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years.

It’s a membership that serves us well as we find it gives us a platform to interact with similar businesses and puts us in front of a wide audience.  Having staged a number of very successful Chamber events, both at our dealership on the Cork Road and at venues chosen by the Chamber, it really puts into perspective the value of networking and meeting with potential customers face to face.

We intend to continue the partnership between Waterford Chamber of Commerce and Tom Murphy Car Sales into the future, as the results speak for themselves and we see the value in being a member of Waterford Chamber.”
