Skillnet Leadership and Management Conference

Skillnet Training Development Conference 2017

Skillnets training networks join forces to build management capability in the South East

Three Skillnets training networks operating in the South East are coming together to offer a half-day Leadership and Management Conference at Lyrath Estate, Co Kilkenny on Tuesday 16th May 2017. This half day event (8.30am to 1.00pm) is co-hosted by Waterford Chamber Skillnet, Tipperary Skillnet and Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet.

The event is aimed at business owners, senior managers and learning & development professionals. It will explore how well-designed learning and development interventions can build management capacity within businesses and drive improved performance.

Topics will cross the realms of Leadership, Management, Coaching and Succession Planning. The focus is very much on what works well, with case study presentations from businesses in the region. Speakers on the day include Mícheál O’Leary, Irish Management Institute; Mick Kelly, Simply Workflow; Richard McCarthy, OMT Global; and Ann O’Mahony, Morgan McKinley. The event will be chaired by journalist and broadcaster Karen Tomkins.

According to Paul Healy, Chief Executive of Skillnets, “Enhancing management capacity, particularly in SMEs, is a national policy imperative and a major priority for Skillnets and its networks. Whether it is strategy, sales, process improvement or scaling a business, there is a clear requirement for Skillnets to ensure the ongoing provision of effective management development.”

As noted in the Enterprise 2025 strategy: ‘Strong leadership is critical to drive the growth, innovation and adaptability required of the successful enterprise over the coming decade. Strong leaders are essential to drive our scaling agenda’. Skillnets networks play an important role in building management and leadership capacity and in delivering on the wider skills agenda in the regions. In 2016, Skillnets networks in the South East had a budget of just under €1.4m to support businesses in the region, over half of which was provided by Skillnets in grant support.

Places at the event are extremely limited so early booking is advised. The ticket price is €45 per person. For bookings, please contact Waterford Chamber Skillnet on 051 311139 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
