Drugs and Alcohol at Work: Managing Reasonable Suspicion

EAP Institute DrugAlcohol2020 2

The EAP Institute will present a one day certified training course for Drugs and Alcohol at Work- Managing Reasonable Suspicion, Limerick Strand Hotel Thursday 13th February 2020 and Galway Clayton Hotel 5th March 2020.

About this seminar

Under Section 13(1) b the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 all employees must ensure that they are not under the influence of an intoxicant (defined as drugs and alcohol) to the extent that he or she is in such a state as to endanger his or her own safety, health or welfare at work or that of any other person.

Managing Reasonable Suspicion

Information given by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is that from a health and safety perspective, companies need to be confident that employees are not a risk to themselves or others. If managers perceive that there is a risk action should be taken to remove the employee from the risk. Those who drive company vehicles or their own car, the so called 'grey fleet drivers' are now considered high risk to their own personal safety and that of other road users.

What Our Members Say

“Tom Murphy Car Sales Ltd has been a member of Waterford Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years. It’s a membership that serves us well as we find it gives us a platform to interact with similar businesses and puts us in front of a wide audience. Having staged a number of very successful Chamber events, both at our dealership on the Cork Road and at venues chosen by the Chamber, it really puts into perspective the value of networking and meeting with potential customers face to face. We intend to continue the partnership between Waterford Chamber of Commerce and Tom Murphy Car Sales into the future, as the results speak for themselves and we see the value in being a member of Waterford Chamber.”
